The best way to cool down on those hot summer nights is a cocktail! Okay maybe the pool might outrank a cocktail, but once you try this refreshing mango basil spritzer you may rethink that ranking. A delicious blend of fresh mango and basil with a splash of pineapple and citrus, this sweet and herby drink will certainly cool you off!

Mango Puree

In case you’ve never had it, mango and basil are a surprisingly delicious pair. The anise herby basil is a great contrast to the extremely sweet mango. Together they make for a great combo.

So to start, his delicious cocktail starts with a great mango puree. Start by putting one whole mango in a blender. Pro tip: the best way to get the meat out of a mango is to cut one large slice down one side of the mango and slide the slice down the side of a glass cup (pushing the meat inside the glass and sliding the skin on the outside).

Add 2-3 basil leaves and 2 oz of pineapple juice to the blender and blend until smooth.

Cocktail time!

Pour the mango puree into a mixer filled with ice. Add to that 3 oz of vodka, 2  oz of mint infused or regular simple syrup, and 1 1/2 oz of lemon or lime juice. Shake vigorously! Pour the whole mixture over two ice-filled glasses.

Top with sparkling water and garnish with a lemon/lime slice and a basil leaf. Just like that you have the most refreshing, fruity mango basil spritzer that cools you down in those hot summer months.

Sweet mango and pineapple mixed with the herbaceousness of basil and mint makes for such a refreshing summer cocktail! Make a big batch or just enough for yourself. It’s worth not sharing.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 mango
  • 4-5 basil leaves
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 3 oz vodka
  • 2 oz mint or regular simple syrup
  • 1 ½ oz lemon or lime juice
  • 8 oz sparkling water
  • 2 lime slices for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a blender, blend mango, 2-3 leaves of basil, and pineapple juice in a blender until smooth.
  • Pour the mixture over ice in a shaker and add vodka, simple syrup and lemon juice. Shake shake vigorously.
  • Pour into two glasses over ice and top wit sparkling water. Garnish with a lime slice and basil leaf and serve.
