Nothing says summer like burgers on the grill and this greek turkey burger recipe is a fresh spin on an old classic! Topped with a bright tomato salad and simple tzatziki, this burger will be your new cookout go-to!
Turkey Burgers
This greek version of the American classic starts with a flavor-packed patty. I used turkey, as it is a lighter meat that will not overpower the flavors, but ground chicken or even lamb could be used for these burgers.
The key is to pack the patties with the same flavors used in the tomato salad and tzatziki. Make sure every bite packs a punch!
- Feta
- Red Onion
- Parsley
- Dill
Of course, burgers are always best on the grill! You just can’t beat that smokey char. But if you’re like me, stuck in quarantine with no grill nearby, a smokeless indoor grill is your next best bet! Same flavor, indoors!
These classic greek flavors make the burgers delicious on their own, but why stop there? Kick it up a notch with toppings!
Greek Tomato Salad
While the classic cheeseburger is topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and the occasional pickle, this gem gets its fresh veggies from a bright tomato salad.
Thinly sliced red onions, grape tomatoes, vinegar, and parsley combined create a bright, acidic contrast to the rich burger. Served on top of the patty or even on the side, this salad screams summertime!
Tzatziki
This greek turkey burger would not be complete without the most quintessential greek condiment, tzatziki. The middle eastern sauce is a vibrant blend of greek yogurt, cucumber, lemon, parsley, and dill.
Although not very traditional, I also throw some feta in mine as well. Why not, right?
The combination of fresh herbs, salty feta, bright lemon and tomatoes will not disappoint. Serving the burgers on toasted pita rounds helps drive home the mediterranean meal and adds a chewy crunch!
Whether you are prepping for your next cookout, or just want to jazz up dinner with the family, these greek turkey burgers are sure to be a hit. Pair it with homemade sweet potato fries for a burger night you won’t soon forget.
