Maple Sage Breakfast Sausage

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb pork sausage chilled
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp ground sage
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper

Method
 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine pork, maple syrup, and all of the seasonings.
  2. Form the pork into 8 round patties. I used a 2½ inch biscuit cutter as a ring mold to make sure they were perfectly round
  3. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook each patty for 3-4 minutes per site until browned and caramelized on each side.
  4. Serve immediately.
