Gruyere Bacon and Caramelized Onion Dip

If you didn't think it was possible for cheese dip to get any better, think again! Gruyere based dip with bacon and caramelized onions is next level.

Ingredients
  

  • 5 strips bacon
  • 2 medium white onions thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded gruyere divided
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • sliced, toasted baguette for serving

Instructions
 

  • In a large skillet or cast iron, cook the bacon strips about 3-4 minutes per side until crispy. Set aside on a paper towel to drain the grease. When cooled, chop into small pieces
  • In the same skilled over medium low heat, add in sliced onions and cook for about 20-25 minutes until they turn a light amber.
  • Add in sugar, salt, and vinegar and cook an additional 5-10 minutes until the onions turn a deep amber color. Remove from heat
  • Preheat the oven to 400°
  • In a small bowl, mix together bacon, onions, mayo, sour cream, 1 cup of shredded cheese, parsley, and onion powder
  • Spread the mixture into an even layer in a cast iron skillet, and top with remaining cheese.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until golden and bubbling. Garnish with chopped parsley
  • Serve immediately with crackers, veggies, or toasted baguette slices
